Mistress Violet Smethwyk

Violet Smethwyk

Meet Mistress Violet Smethwyk, a lady who lives in the Harry Potter universe. It just so happens that Violet trends toward the Gothique as well. Violet wore a gown inspired by a 1910's tea gown to the Book 6 release party. The undergown is an A-line tunic of black burned-out velvet in a floral pattern. The angel-wing sleeves that are split on the top edge. Her overgown is purple jacquard challis, also cut in an A-line, but with a deeply scooped neckline and sleeveless. The neckline is edged in black bugle and seed beads.

A cumberbund gives the gown some shape. It is also edged on the lower edge in seed beads, and is made of black lace overlaying the purple challis of the overgown. Violet wears several long strings of beads - "black" and violet pearls, amethyst glass round and faceted  beads.  Her hat is embellished with purple roses, netting and of course a black crow.

This is a really horrible picture. I love the boa, but it totally hides the shape of the gown. And I've still got that mousey brown hair. And the skirt is all bunched up. I'll get a better one.
